“Zoo de Lille was founded in 1950 and spans a lush 3-hectare landscape. Within its 3.5-hectare grounds, the zoo accommodates 450 animals from 110 diverse species. Welcoming nearly a million visitors annually, it is a renowned tourist attraction. The zoo is structured into six thematic zones: Around the World, African Lands, Exotic Travel, Island Hopping, South American Excursion, and The Tropics, each featuring birds, mammals, and reptiles in distinct habitats. Set amidst verdant surroundings, Zoo de Lille invites exploration across its six themed areas, showcasing 88 animal species. The mediation team organises diverse activities tailored to different age groups. Maintained by the municipal garden service, the zoo provides a sanctuary for exotic animals abandoned by their owners. Approximately forty individuals are employed at the Lille Zoo during its operating season.
