“Dr Olivier Villejoubert completed his medical education with a specialization in cardiology at Tours Regional University Hospital. Early in his career, he developed a profound interest in rhythmology while working within a dynamic and innovative team, currently recognised in the national prize list for their achievements in this field. His Dissertation for the Diploma of Specialised Studies and his doctoral thesis in medicine focused on extensive epidemiological data concerning a significant patient population with atrial fibrillation, both of which were published in prestigious international journals. In addition to his medical education, Dr Villejoubert pursued scientific training, culminating in a rewarding Master II year at the Paris VII Faculty. Guided by Professor Jean-Jacques Mercadier, he delved into cellular electrophysiology and its fundamental concepts, broadening his understanding of cardiac electrophysiology. Complementing his theoretical training, he engaged in a year of fundamental research at the LabEx LERMIT Center of excellence, directed by Professor Rodolphe Fischmeister, a specialist in signalling and cardiovascular pathophysiology. His hands-on training in invasive rhythmology occurred at Paris Saint-Joseph Hospital, under the mentorship of Dr Serge Caseau, a pioneer in cardiac pacemaking and the inventor of cardiac resynchronisation therapy during the 1990s. This technique, now employed globally, has become a speciality of their team, particularly in handling complex cases.”
